Cell Therapy Program
In December 2006, Clínica São Vicente launched the first Cell Therapy Program in a private hospital in Rio de Janeiro. Coordinated by Haematologist and Oncologist Dr. Daniel Tabak, the program started by expanding autologous transplants (patient receives his or her own cells) and allogenic bone marrow transplant (using cells from donors), offered also to patent with autoimmune diseases.

The Cell therapy program at Clínica São Vicente has three beds in special rooms with filters to minimize the contamination of the environment’s air, an exclusive nursing station and nurses who are specialised in handling patients who have had bone marrow transplant and haematologic neoplasia. It also counts with a laboratory to handle stem cells.

The new unit represents a 15% increase of the total number of beds in the state, helping to free the public system that has 20 beds for this type of transplant.
